Jaanu Collections: Samantha Akkineni and Sharwanand starrer romantic and emotional drama Jaanu, was released on 7th February and received positive response by the movie lovers and critics on its opening day. Everyone hailed it as an earnest remake with impeccable performances from the lead actors. But the movie Jaanu has taken poor start at the USA box office. According to the traders report, the film Jaanu got lukewarm response from US which gave a shock to everyone. According to Comscore report, Samantha and Sharwanand starrer Jaanu collected $34,168 from its Thursday premieres. On Friday, the film grossed $34,391. In this manner, the film Jaanu grossed over $68,000 from Thursday premieres and Friday regular shows, which is very low for Samantha starrer.
Considering the solid pre-release hype and the presence of two established actors- Sharwanand and Samantha Akkineni, the number seems to be quite a bit low.
Jaanu is a remake of Tamil film 96 in which Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan played the lead roles. The romantic drama is helmed by the original director Prem Kumar and bankrolled by Dil Raju. The songs and the video promos of Jaanu have already struck the right chord with the viewers’ owing to the crackling chemistry between Samantha and Sharwanand.
