In Telangana, there is a big competition to contest on behalf of the Congress party. It has been decided that those who want to contest on behalf of the Congress party in the Telangana Assembly elections which will be held in a few months must definitely apply and also pay the fee. A large number of aspirants applied as it was made clear that anyone including seniors have to apply from today.
A large number of applications were received after the deadline for applications for Congress party candidature. Gandhi Bhavan sources said that 1025 people have applied to contest from 119 assembly constituencies in the state. Out of the total applications, it seems that more than 10 applications have been received for the competition in 34 positions.
There is intense competition in terms of contesting in the Illendu ST constituency which has the highest number of applications. 36 people have applied to compete from here. A large number of people have applied to contest in SC and ST reserved constituencies across Telangana. BC and OC candidates are mostly contesting for the constituencies where the party has a clear chance of winning. Congress state campaign committee chairman and former MP Madhuyaski has applied to contest from LB Nagar, Greater Hyderabad constituency, as there are chances of Congress winning.
It is said that the final candidate will be selected by AICC. Congress party sources say that the final list of candidates will be released after discussions with the state leaders.
