Shakeela biopic – a movie on the popular adult film star who ruled the southern film industry in the 90s, is being made by Indrajit Lankesh. Bollywood actress Richa Chadda is playing the titular role in this upcoming biopic, in the direction of Indrajit Lankesh. According to the latest update, adult star Shakeela will also play the cameo in her biopic. The makers have released the first look logo of Shakeela biopic. Richa Chadda also shared the first logo of Shakeela biopic on her Twitter and captioned it, “Presenting the first look of #Shakeela! @indrajitlankesh @ShakeelaFilm.” It has a tag line ‘Not a porn star’ .
Recently in an interview, Indrajit Lankesh had said, “I always wanted to make a movie on Shakeela. I wanted to portray her story, the hardships and rough phase when she was not getting films and was trying for character roles. I met her in 2015 and after meeting, I decided to make a movie on Shakeela.”
The director says that Shakeela’s life will inspire all the girls who aspire to become actors. He feels that every woman and girl who wants to be an actor should see her story to know what she went through to become an actor and how her life has been such a compelling rags-to-riches-to-rags story.
The south Indian adult star Shakeela started her career during the 1980s but shot to fame after starring in the 2000 Malayalam film Kinnara Thumbikal. Richa Chadda is reprising the role of Shakeela in this biopic. The actress has left no stone unturned in prepping for the film. A few months ago, she met with Shakeela to learn more about her so she could add authenticity to the character when it comes alive on screen.
Richa Chadda also learnt belly dancing for a promotional song. The release date of Shakeela biopic is yet to be announced.
