Each birth control pill contains the same synthetic estrogen, ethinyl estradiol, and progesterone. Ethinyl estradiol stops the egg from growing in the uterus each month. Progesterone causes the lining of the cervix to form. It blocks the passage of sperm into the uterus.

These pills are used to alter the body’s normal hormonal balance. The imbalance of these hormones can adversely affect your body.

Headache- According to a 2005 study in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 10 percent of those who used them developed headaches within a month of using them. Changes in estrogen and progesterone hormones can cause headaches and migraine pain.
