The Supreme Court has issued a verdict on the repeal of Article 370.

The Supreme Court on Monday morning issued a key verdict on the cancellation of Article 70, which provides autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir. They clarified that Article 370 is temporary and they cannot interfere with the decision taken by the central government. It said that the Constitution gave the power to revoke autonomy to the President.

In August 2019, the Center abrogated Article 370, which granted autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir. Later the area was divided into two Union Territories. At that time, there was unrest in Jammu and Kashmir. Later, challenging the central decision, many opposition parties filed lawsuits in the Supreme Court. The Constitutional Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Justice BR Gavai, Justice Suryakant and Justice Sanjeev, which has been investigating them for some time now, has revealed this verdict.

On the other side, the official said: On Monday the Security was beefed up across Kashmir ahead of Supreme Court’s verdict on a batch of petitions challenging abrogation of provisions of Article 370 of Constitution that gave a special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
