In the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections, there is intense competition to contest on behalf of the ruling party in Narsapur. Chilumula Madan Reddy (74), who won as MLA in 2014 and 2018 on behalf of BRS, and Sunita Lakshmareddy, who lost twice to Madan Reddy, are contesting for Narsapur candidature. Former minister Vakiti Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, who joined BRS from Congress, is vying fiercely to contest from this position.

Although Madan Reddy has a good reputation among the people and leaders of the constituency, the party is planning to give ticket to Sunitha Lakshma Reddy considering Madan Reddy’s age. The party leadership reconsidered as the people of the constituency and second cadre BRS leaders wanted to give ticket to Madan Reddy.

Both Madan Reddy and Sunitha Lakshma Reddy intensified their efforts for the ticket. Both tried to meet the Chief Minister. The party leaders are saying that the party’s executive president KT Rama Rao will come to a conclusion as to who will be the Narsapur candidate after his foreign tour.

Sunita Lakshma Reddy has good relations with Minister Rama Rao. Her followers say that she switched from Congress to BRS because of Rama Rao’s promise of ticket in 2023. Madan Reddy has also been close to Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao for 40 years. As part of KCR’s Medak tour, he stopped his bus at Narsapur and took Madan Reddy with him.
