The first trailer for Mira Nair’ TV adaptation of Vikram Seth’s A Suitable Boy, in which Tabu and Ishaan Khatter are playing the lead roles, has been released. A Suitable Boy is all about the story of spirited university student, Lata, coming of age in North India in 1951, around the same time that the country is preparing for its first general elections. The one minute trailer of A Suitable Boy features several intimate scenes involving Ishaan Khatter and Tabu’ characters.
In the trailer, Lata’ character essayed by Tanya, is searching for a suitor courtesy of her mother. She is determined to get her daughter married who amidst all that falls in love with a Muslim boy. As the movie is set in 1951, religion and caste issues were indeed prominent. On the other side, Ishaan Khatter is playing the role of Ram’ onscreen son and he is in love with much older woman essayed by Tabu. This doesn’t go well with father Ram, as he wants his son to follow his footsteps in politics.
A Suitable Boy also has Vivaan Shah, Shujaat Khan, Randeep Hooda, Aamir Bashir, Shahana Goswami, Namit Das, Sharvari Deshpande, Ranvir Shorey, Vijay Varma, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Vinay Pathak, Manoj Pahwa, Vijay Raaz in the curial roles. TheIndian-British show will be streamed from 26th July, 2020, on BBC One.
