Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh has been arrested on Tuesday morning for his alleged derogatory remarks against the Prophet in a video posted on social media. The police Officials said they are also pulling down Raja Singh’s video, which Muslim leaders claim insulted their community.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Zone, Hyderabad, said that a case was registered against BJP MLA T Raja Singh under sections of the law relating to insulting religious beliefs, P Sai Chaitanya.
He was a member of the Telugu Desam Party but later he joined the BJP. In past he has made several remarks appearing to be targeting the Muslim community. Hundreds of people from Muslim community have been protesting in the city.
In 2020, Facebook banned Raja Singh and Instagram for allegedly promoting hate. A Facebook spokesperson had said, “We have banned Raja Singh from Facebook for violating the policy prohibiting those that promote or engage in the violence and hate from having a presence on our platform.”
This time MLA T Raja Singh had released a 10 minute video allegedly making derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad.
On 20th August, Hyderabad police detained Raja Singh after he threatened to thrash comedian Munawwar Farooqui if he hosted a show in the city Hyd.
