Telangana Congress leaders were placed under house arrest by police in Hyderabad today on Monday ahead of their planned protest over the problems faced by sarpanches. TPCC president A Revanth Reddy, vice-president Mallu Ravi and other leaders were placed under house arrest on Monday in the wake of the party’s scheduled dharna programme at dharna chowk. Another TPCC leader named Mahesh Kumar Goud was also placed under house arrest by the police.
Police have stepped up the security near the residence of Revanth Reddy at Jubilee Hills with additional deployment of cops, following Congress leader’s call to hold demonstration at Indira park for leading the dharna as the police have denied permission for holding protest.
Earlier the police had denied permission for holding the protest program at Indira park.
Revanth Reddy took to Twitter to slam Telangana CM KCR as he tweeted, “Chief Minister doesn’t come out of Pragati Bhavan nor common man has access to it. If we question, we face cases and house arrests. Police surrounded my house and all important leaders to prevent from the dharna against the plight of Sarpanchs in the state. Democracyawhere are you!?.”
Party has demanded that budget allocation for the gram panchayats be utilized by the Sarpanchas only.
