The Telangana government has decided to go ahead with the bills that have not received the Governor’s approval. The Council of Ministers decided to introduce the Bills in the upcoming assembly sessions and send them again for the approval of the Governor.

The bills passed by the Telangana Legislative Assembly as well as the Legislative Council were sent back by Governor TamiliSai due to various reasons. In the past, the Telangana government approached the Supreme Court against passing the bills passed by the Legislative Assembly and attaching them to the Governor.

At the last moment, the governor announced that she was approving the pending bills and sending some others for judicial review. It was explained that one or two bills did not reach the governor’s office. The government is unhappy that some of the pending bills at the governor’s office are not being passed and are being attached if the dispute is to be resolved. This was not to the taste of the state government. As the bills did not get the Governor’s assent within the stipulated period, the options available under the law are being explored.

It was decided in the meeting of the Council of Ministers that two of the bills pending with the Governor should be introduced again in the Assembly. The Council of Ministers approved the government’s decision to this effect on Monday. There is a bill to increase the deadline for moving a no-confidence motion against the chairmen and mayors of Telangana urban local bodies from three years to four years and there are bills related to the formation of new village panchayats in Bhadradri Kothagudem and Kumrambhim Asifabad districts.

These two bills, which have already been approved by the Legislative Assembly and Council, were sent to the Governor for approval a long time ago. However, as they did not get salvation, the government decided to introduce it again in the assembly.
