For the first time in the country, Telangana government has started issuing Shishu Aadhaar cards to newborns in government hospitals. Shishu Aadhar will be issued to the parents of newly born kids  within 24 hours after delivery of infants.  Mother’s aadhar card or aadhar number is mandatory. If mother does not have Aadhaar card then father can also use Aadhaar card.

Government officials say that they are issuing a Shishu Aadhaar Card within 24 hours of birth of a child. Aadhaar card must be issued before discharge from the hospital. For this, the hospital authorities go directly to the parents and apply online after knowing the complete details. Parents can download the child’s Aadhaar card online within 15 days. Aadhaar card status can also be tracked online.

Shishu Aadhaar Card will be delivered directly to home by post within 45 days of application. It has been 6 months since the start of this program. As part of the first phase, 45 child Aadhaar centers have been set up in govt hospitals. Officials of the health department say that the second phase started in November 20. The Government Family Welfare Commission is implementing this program under the leadership of Chief Minister KCR and Health Minister Harish Rao.
