Vivek Agnihotri’ magnum opus ‘The Kashmir Files’ received the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film in the National Integration few days ago. This did not go down well in some political quarters. Politicians, including Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin and former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, criticized ‘The Kashmir Files’ getting the award and called it “shocking”.
It is known that the controversial film ‘The Kashmir Files’ was a successful venture at the box office. Amidst controversies and protests across the country, the film became a huge success and fetched huge collections. Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film faced opposition from Muslim communities and unionists. Many people criticized that this film was made for political purposes of BJP.
On the other hand, the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ won the National Award. Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on National Integrity was announced for this film. On the otherside Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin criticized the film ‘The Kashmir Files’. He said that it is not right to give an award in the national integration category to this movie ‘The Kashmir Files’ which is inciting hatred. He said that giving a national award to such a film would be damaging to the national integrity. Stalin expressed his anger through Twitter.
