The year 2023 was very crucial in Andhra Pradesh politics. As it was a year before the elections, important political developments took place. Let’s know the top 5  political developments of this year. 

TDP Chief Chandrababu Arrest : It must be said that the year 2023 has been very difficult for the opposition Telugu Desam Party.  Chandrababu was arrested in the skill development case and was taken to Rajahmundry Central Jail.  Chandrababu remained in jail for more than 50 days after not getting bail. Finally Chandrababu came out after the High Court granted conditional interim bail on the grounds of ill health. After that the court granted general bail and recently Chandrababu has been participating in party activities.

TDP-Jana Sena alliance: After the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu, TDP-Janasena parties united. Pawan Kalyan, who visited Chandrababu in Rajahmundry Central Jail, made a key statement on the alliance with TDP. It was announced that TDP and Janasena will contest together in the upcoming assembly elections. 

Pawan Kalyan Varahi Yatra:  Pawan Kalyan Varahi Yatra was undertaken in Andhra Pradesh. The vehicle specially designed for public transport is named ‘Varahi’. A plan has been made to cover the entire state on this vehicle. Pawan Varahi Yatra started on June 14 this year. 

Yuvagalam Padayatra : In the beginning of 2023, TDP chief Chandrababu’s son and party’s national general secretary Nara Lokesh started a padayatra in the name of Yuvagalam. Lokesh’s padayatra started on January 27 in Kuppam, his father’s home constituency. Lokesh, who recently resumed padayatra, has completed 3 thousand kilometers. The Lokesh Padayatra, which started earlier this year, is finally coming to an end. The Lokesh Padayatra will end with a huge public meeting in Visakhapatnam on December 20. 

Visakhapatnam new capital:  It is known that when the YCP party came to power, it was announced that Andhra Pradesh would have three capitals, not just Amaravati. As part of this, Visakhapatnam was announced as the administrative capital.  Key steps have been taken in that direction this year. The government has appointed a special committee to arrange the accommodation of the chief minister’s camp office, ministers and senior IAS officers in Visakhapatnam. The government has announced that Visakhapatnam will start its rule as the capital from Dussehra this year itself. But it got postponed due to various reasons.
