South diva Trisha Krishnan is playing Ilaya Piratti Kundavai Devi, which is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s epic novel of the same name, in Mani Ratnam’s highly-anticipated project, Ponniyin Selvan, which is gearing up for the grand release very soon. The team is totally busy these days with the promotions of Ponniyin Selvan. Trisha Krishnan’ multiple looks for the role of Chola princess in the film have garnered the attention of audiences. Speaking in an interview, Karthi revealed that Trisha Krishnan will shock everyone with her stellar performance in Ponniyin Selvan .
Trisha Krishnan also added that she was not sure whether she would pull this role off but Mani Ratnam asked her to believe in her and the rest is history. According to her, they tried over 50 looks for her character Ilaya Piratti Kundavai Devi. The actress added,. “You guys have just seen a couple of Kundavai’s looks from the movie We tried over 50 looks for the film, and later shortlisted around 30 out of them. Later, we picked best 10 looks from which Mani Ratnam sir decided what worked for PS-I”
Kundavai Deviis described as a woman of extraordinary intelligence and courage. Initially, many popular actresses including Anushka Shetty and lady superstar Nayanthara were considered to play the role. But eventually, Trisha came on board.
