Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to Udhayanidhi Stalin : Dare to speak on other religions?

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has expressed concern that Tamil Nadu Minister Udayanidhi Stalin’s comments on Sanatana Dharma hurt people’s sentiments. Many people may remember Tamil Nadu Minister Udayanidhi Stalin’s crazy comments on the orthodox religion practiced by Hindus. Comparing Sanatana Dharma with dengue, malaria and AIDS diseases, Udayanidhi commented that it should be eradicated. At least he didn’t show any remorse for his comments.

Minister Sitharaman responded in the wake of a big controversy. “You (Udayanidhi Stalin) took the oath of office as per the constitution and took the post of minister. You made it clear during the swearing-in that you would not hurt anyone’s sentiments. Even if it is your ideology, you have no right to say that you want to eradicate a religion,” said Sitharaman. Minister Sitharaman spoke on this as part of a program held in Chennai.

“How do you protect temples? When one speaks of eradicating them? Minister Sitharaman asked Tamil Nadu Minister Shekhar Babu that you have taken the oath according to the constitution, are you taking the funds that the orthodox Hindus put in the temple hundis? Minister Sitharaman also refuted the statement made by a monk that he would give Rs 10 crores if Udayanidhi’s head is brought.

She said that such hateful speeches on Sanatana Dharma have increased because of the revenge of Hindus. She said that they do not have the backbone to talk about other religions in the same way. “Let’s see if we can talk like that. Aren’t there any problems with other religions? Aren’t women degraded in other religions? Do you have the courage to talk about it?” Minister Sitharaman protested.
