Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy spoke about irrigation projects during BRS government in assembly and said that Magigadda barrage was the heart of the Kaleshwaram project which was constructed by the previous government.
The state government introduced a white paper in Legislative Assembly on Telangana Irrigation Sector. Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy gave a presentation. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Magigadda Barrage was the heart of the Kaleshwaram project which was constructed by the previous BRS government but due to construction defects and corruption in the Medigadda project, those projects have become ineffective today. On this occasion, photos and videos of Medigadda project were shown in the meeting. Sagging pillars of road and fields on Medigadda project were displayed in the meeting.
“BRS Govt failed to follow basic norms of project building. The Barrages must have been built as floating structures. Still, Government built them as rigid strictures resulting in damage of the very foundation of the structures,” the Irrigation Minister said. Minister said 50 TMC Komuravelli Mallannasagar reservoir under the KLIP was built without following seismic norms.
Uttam Kumar also pointed out that the earlier Governments created irritation projects from their funds whereas BRS borrowed Rs 1,56,280 cr burdening State exchequer immensely.
