As per latest poll trends, TMS is currently leading in 65 out of 190 gram panchayat seats in Bankura. BJP is leading in 1 seat. Congress and other parties are yet to score the seats.
The counting of votes for the West Bengal Panchayat elections, which took place amid several incidents of violence, started this morning. In the wake of violence in the elections, a strong security has been put in place to prevent any untoward incident during the counting. 80.71 percent polling was recorded in the elections held on 8th of this month for 74 thousand seats in the state. Before polling, the violence broke out in many places on the polling day. The Ballot boxes were taken away in some areas. And the ballot boxes were burnt in other areas. 33 people lost their lives in the violence that broke out during the elections.
According to the information received so far, the ruling Trinamool Congress party- TMC is leading in the majority of Panchayat and Zilla Parishad seats. The opposition, Congress and other parties have not shown a lead in any seat so far. Meanwhile, the clashes are also taking place in many areas during the counting of votes. West Bengal governor CV Ananda Bose visited counting centre in Bhangar.
