YS Sharmila came to Idupulapaya on the occasion of YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s 14th death anniversary. On Saturday morning, along with his mother Vijayamma, she paid her respects at YSR Samadhi. Special prayers were conducted on this occasion. Later, Sharmila spoke to the media and recalled the memories of her father along with the decisions taken by YSR.
YS Sharmila said: 14 years have passed since the great leader YSR left us. However, he is alive in the hearts of Telugu people. YSR stood as a farmer’s supporter. He thought of free electricity and solved the problems of the farmers. He is also credited with waiving off the loans. Not just for one group, he enlightened women with interest-free loans. He brought fee reimbursement for students’ higher education. With Arogyashri he gave life to many people. He built houses for 46 lakh people. Reservations were made for minorities. YSR is a leader who did well beyond castes, religions and regions. 700 people could not bear the death of such a leader.”
On the otherside, Sharmila, who recently went to Delhi met Congress leader Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. There is a strong buzz that YSRTP will be merged with Congress. But when the media asked questions about this, YS Sharmila responded with a smile and commented that this is not the right platform to respond to the merger.
