ECI seized 66 kg silverwares worth Rs 39 lakhs, belonging to the Hindi film producer Boney Kapoor, at the check post near Hebbalu toll on the outskirts of Karnataka’ Davangere in the wee hours of Friday.
It was found that these silver items were packed in five boxes without proper documents and were being transported from Chennai to Mumbai in a BMW car. EC widens vigilance during elections in Karnataka state. In this order it saw the light.
These include silver utensils, spoons, mugs, plates etc. EC officials seized them. A case has been registered at the Davangire police station against the car driver Sultan Khan and Hari Singh who was in the car. During the police investigation, it was found that this car was registered in the name of Bayview Projects Private Limited. The company is owned by Bollywood producer and late actress Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor. Hari Singh admitted during the interrogation that the silver items belonged to Boney Kapoor’s family.
Boney Kapoor is also popular in South Indian film Industry. He was the producer of Power Star Pawan Kalyan starrer court room drama Vakeel Saab, the remake of Hindi film Pink starring Amitabh Bachchan. This year he bankrolled Ajith Kumar starrer action drama Thunivu, which was superhit at the box office.
