Most of the people only know that the popular Indian disco musician Bappi Lahari was a singer, composer, politician and record producer. But, beside these professionalities, he was also sustained as a renowned author in his career. Unfortunately, he died due to an obstructive sleep apnea at CritiCare Hospital, Mumbai, yesterday morning.
In 2018, his book ‘We Are One World : Peace, Love and Harmony’ was released in America, Canada and UK. He wrote some songs and poems in this book. They were dedicated to communal amity. In an interview, he said, “I always wanted to do something for humanity, spread the message of love propagated by my Sharaabi chartbuster ‘De De Pyaar De’.
He was inspired by Mother Teresa and also he was blessed by her. But she pointed out that though he made a name for himself he didn’t do anything for slum children. So, he had made a film ‘Slum Stars’ and got some children from slums to sing in the film. He said, “If this book does well, I’ll build a school for them”.
As a musician, he worked last on ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ in September 2021. He respectfully lives in the hearts of people forever. Anyway, he acquired many admirations through his talent as an author too.
