An incident of gang rape of a minor girl in Konaseema district has created a stir. A girl who went to the garden to wash her clothes was gang-raped by five youths. The incident came to light late as the accused were the sons of local YSRCP leaders. No matter how many strict laws are passed to prevent violence against the  women, there is no result. Apart from the police department’s campaign in the name of Disha, there is no stopping the atrocities. The accused gang-rape of a minor girl has shamelessly tried to pay compensation to the victim’s family.

The crimes against women, children and girls are increasing day by day. On the 6th of this month, a girl was abducted by five people who went to wash clothes at cassava plantations in the coastal area. The girl was raped in the bushes. After this incident, the girl reached home and fell seriously ill. When the family members inquired, she told them about the atrocity at home. In this same village, it was known that the sons of YCP leaders had committed rape and the accused were arrested. They warned not to disclose the matter and also ordered to give one lakh rupees to the victim’s family. The victims were scared as the families of the accused warned them not to file a complaint with the police.  As this incident became a topic of discussion locally, DSP Madhav Reddy conducted an investigation in the village.

5 accused were detained by the police. A case was registered under the POCSO Act.
