The arrangements for the election of President Election have been made by officials in Assembly Committee Hall-1. The mock polling was held at 8 am while voting for the presidential election will continue from 10 am to 5 pm.  Senior IAS officer Chandraker Bharti, who has been appointed by Election Commission of India as observer for the President’ election in Andhra Pradesh.  Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy cast the first vote as polling process for the presidential election got underway at 10 am in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly today. Speaker Tammineni Sitaram was the next to cast the vote.  Later several other ministers cast their votes.

Droupadi Murmu, the former Governor of Jharkhand, who hails from the Santhal tribe in Odisha, is the candidate of the BJP led NDA. Contesting against Droupadi Murmu is the UPA’s candidate Yashwant Sinha, who was Union Minister for External Affairs and Finance. The ruling YSRCP  and the Telugu Desam Party –TDP pledged its support to the NDA’s presidential nominee Droupadi Murmu. They are saying that her nomination to the country’s highest Constitutional post was a significant step towards the empowerment of tribal communities.

BJP leaders are saying  that Andhra Pradesh is the second state after Mizoram where all the MLAs are supporting Draupadi Murmu.
