Breastfeeding is vital for babies. Children are dependent on them until they are six months old. That’s why mothers must be with them at that time. But it became a bit difficult as women had to go to the office due to job requirements. Those who have to go to offices and work are definitely having to leave their children behind. Again, breast milk should be stored properly. They should be passed on to the baby. Some precautions must be taken for that.
Precautions for storing breast milk:
· Hands and breast should be sanitized before mother expresses her milk. Wash thoroughly with soapy water. Then collect the milk in a container. Breast pumps for this purpose are now available in the market.
· This breast pump should be cleaned with hot water after each use.
· After collecting the milk in the container , it should be covered immediately to prevent air from entering it.
· Make sure that milk containers are BPA free and food safe. It is better to use steel or glass instead of these plastic containers if possible. Some people put the milk in plastic covers, seal it and keep it in the fridge. Remember that glass and steel are better than plastic.
· Freshly expressed milk is good for up to four hours at normal room temperature. Then they start to spoil. So put them in the deep freezer as soon as possible. Experts say that frozen milk can be stored for up to six months.
· If you want to store milk for a long time, you should keep the dates written on them. This is a rule that must be followed for the health and safety of children. Hence it is clear that the stored milk should be used first.
