In Chhattisgarh, today i.e. on 7th November, the first phase of voting for the assembly elections has started from 7 am in the morning, it will continue till 5 pm in the evening. In the first phase, out of 90, voting is being held at different times on 20 seats in the Naxal-affected Bastar division of the state and four other districts including Rajnandgaon. Voting will be held on 10 seats from 7 am to 3 pm, while voting on the remaining 10 seats will be held from 8 am to 5 pm.

In the first phase of voting, 40,78,681 voters of the state will decide the fate of 223 candidates. These candidates include former Chief Minister Raman Singh, State Congress President and Bastar MP Deepak Baij, three ministers of the Congress government, four former ministers from the BJP and a former IAS officer. A large number of voters are coming to cast their votes, these include a large number of women.

Chhattisgarh minister and Congress candidate from Konta assembly constituency Kawasi Lakhma cast his vote at polling station number 36 of Konta assembly constituency. He said, “We are fighting on the issues of development, security and peace. A lot of development work has taken place here in the last 5 years. I won by a margin of 6,700 votes and will achieve an even bigger victory this year.”
