We have already reported that CBI arrested Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in liquor scam on February 26 . He was to be interrogated in the Delhi Liquor Scam. The court allowed him to be in custody for five days. In this context, Manish Sisodia approached the Supreme Court. His arrest was challenged in the Supreme Court.
After Senior Advocate Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi mentioned the plea before a bench comprising CJI DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha for urgent listing, CJI agreed to hear it today at 3.50 PM, after the Constitution Bench sitting.
Hearing the arguments of CJI DY Chandrachud regarding this petition, he asked why he came directly to t Supreme Court instead of going to the High Court. In response to this, Sisodia’s lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, he referred to the Supreme Court’s judgment in the case of journalist Vinod Dua. He told the court that he came directly to the Supreme Court in the case of Dua’s criticism of the central government in controlling Covid. The CJI agreed with these arguments and said that the inquiry will be held at 3.50 pm.
Manish Sisodia was arrested on Sunday after an interrogation of more than 8 hours. Sisodia was named as an accused in the FIR.
