Assembly elections in Telangana are approaching. The notification is likely to come out in October/November. A new government may be formed by December. All the parties- ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party are working hard to face this election.
Along with Telangana, assembly elections will be held in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. Congress is in power in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. Apart from retaining power in these two states, the Congress is also gearing up to form the government in the rest of the states.
As part of this, the Congress has formed special steering committees for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. Seniors were brought into the ring. They have been assigned key responsibilities. This committee oversees allotment of tickets, selection of candidates and election campaigns. Five to eight members have been appointed in each steering committee.
Senior party leader K Muralidharan will act as the chairman of the steering committee formed in Telangana. Baba Siddique and Jignesh Mevani are its members. Pradesh Congress Committee chief Revanth Reddy, Congress House leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC in-charge Manik Rao Thackeray, Lok Sabha member Uttam Kumar Reddy have been appointed as ex-officio members of this committee. AICC has given place to all the secretaries. Gaurav Gogoi, Madhya Pradesh – Jitendra Singh, Chhattisgarh – Ajay Maken have been appointed as the chairman of Rajasthan Steering Committee. AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal issued a statement appointing PCC presidents and senior leaders of the respective states as members and ex-officio members.
