Hyderabadi company invented India’ first hepatitis-A virus vaccine

India achieves self-sufficiency for the Hepatitis A vaccine.  Indian Immunologicals Limited company in Hyderabad has recently launched a vaccine against the hepatitis A virus. A leading biopharmaceutical company in the country, IIL, a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board, has manufactured this vaccine in the name of HaveSure.  The vaccine represents a significant step forward in India’s fight against Hepatitis A and is poised to make a substantial contribution to public health.

The vaccine was launched at a function held at Hyatt Place Hotel in Hyderabad on Friday. The organization described it as a historic moment in public health.  Chief guests were Shri Nagaraj Karpan, Shri Ajay Mishra, and IAS-Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, Telangana.

IIL MD Dr. K Anand Kumar said that this is the vaccine designed with complete indigenous knowledge.  He said that this new generation vaccine is the result of extensive research and studies carried out by their team of scientists and researchers. 

Anand Kumar, Managing Director, Indian Immunologicals Limited, added, “Currently India is importing hepatitis A vaccine, the discovery of Havisure is a milestone in field of the national medicine. This is the true meaning of Atmanirbhar Bharat. After extensive clinical trials in 8 centres, we have brought this vaccine into the market. It is safe. It has been proven effective against Hepatitis A.”
