A scientist working for DRDO has been arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad for providing the confidential information to a Pakistani agent. Accused have been identified as PM Kurulkar, who is the Director of Research and Development Establishment, a key facility of DRDO in Pune.
Mumbai’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) recently arrested a senior scientist who had passed secret information to an agent of the Pakistani Intelligence Agency (ISI). Mumbai ATS officials announced on Thursday that a scientist belonging to the Indian Defense Research Organization (DRDO) was detained on Wednesday. The scientist who was caught in the honey trap set by the Pakistani ISI agent said that he had provided secret information about India. It is stated that the scientist was in regular contact with the Pakistani agent through WhatsApp and video calls.
“A senior scientist, knowing that the official secret information in his possession would be the threat to the national security if it reaches enemy, he passed the information to the enemy country Pakistan,” the ATS said in its statement. To this extent, a case has been registered against the scientist under the Official Secrets Act as well as other sections. It has been announced that a more in-depth investigation is being conducted in this case.
