Iodized Salt:

The salt produced near the sea is brought and purified. It is prepared by grinding it like soft salt and artificially adding a chemical called iodine. Our body should get enough of this iodine. If it is too little or too much, the thyroid gland will not function properly. This causes health problems. However, we do not get enough iodine in the sea products, seaweed, milk, milk products, fruits, vegetables etc. that we eat. Additionally, no one needs to take it from salt. Only those who do not have a balanced diet need it. When we get enough iodine from the foods  and eat this salt again increases it in us. This leads to hyperthyroidism.

Non-iodized salt:

After drying the sea water, they brought the salt and sold it directly. This is called Kalluppu or Ralluppu. It does not involve any processing.  It does not contain anything like iodine. So it is called non-iodized salt. Doctors say it is better for health than processed iodized salt. However, those with iodine deficiency and hypothyroidism are advised to use iodized salt rather than using it.
