Delhi Special Cell Police has taken a crucial step forward. Hardened ISIS (ISIS) terrorist Shahnawaz alias Shafi Uzzama (32) was arrested. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently declared him as a most wanted terrorist. There is a reward of Rs 3 lakh for him. He is on NIA’s wanted list in the Pune ISIS module case. He escaped from the custody of the Pune police and the hunt for him has been going on ever since. Delhi Special Cell Police has also detained some others who are related to this case.
Shahnawaz alias Shafi Uzzama hails from Delhi and is an engineer by profession. He escaped from police custody in the Pune case and is hiding in Delhi. The police came to know that the terrorist attacks in the north were planned in accordance with their orders from abroad. Explosive materials used in making IEDs were recovered from him. Shafi Uzzama and two others were arrested on July 18 by the Kothrud police in the Pune module case. Shafi jumped down from the police vehicle and escaped, but was caught again.
Shahnawaz alias Shafi Uzzama is a mining engineer and is believed to have come to Delhi after fleeing Pune and had been living.
