ED has arrested Naresh Goyal, founder of Jet Airways. This action was taken on Friday night as part of the 538 crore money laundering case.
On Friday, ED arrested Naresh Goyal under the PMLA Act after interrogating him for a long time at the ED office in Mumbai. Naresh Goyal will be produced before the special PMLA court on Saturday, where the ED will seek his custodial remand.
Canara Bank Rs 538 crores fraud case was investigated by ED based on the FIR registered by CBI -Central Investigation Agency. The concerned bank complained that Naresh Goyal and his wife Anita had cheated them. They have Rs 848.86 crores worth of loans, out of which Rs. 538.62 crore as outstanding loans.
In 2021, CBI determined that Naresh Goyal and his wife were involved in bank fraud. For those who owe company Rs 1,410.41 crore was returned by JIL forensic audit, but there are allegations that the funds were diverted. However, it has been mentioned in the FIR that all these were used by Goyal’s family to pay phone bills, expenses and salaries to the staff. Moreover, it seems that funds have also disappeared from Jet Light Limited, a subsidiary of Jet Airways.
