Telangana Chief Minister KCR has lost the elections after 40 years of his political career and 14 victories. KCR, who contested from Kamareddy and Gajwel constituencies, was defeated by BJP candidate K Venkataramana Reddy in Kamareddy constituency.

 KCR , who contested as an MLA from Siddipet constituency for the first time in 1983 in united Andhra Pradesh, was defeated by his political mentor, Congress candidate Anantula Madhusudan. Then in 1985 elections, he again contested as a TDP candidate and defeated the Congress candidate Madhusudan and won for the first time as Siddipet MLA.

Similarly, in 1989, 1994 and 1999, he contested as a TDP candidate and won. After winning the 1999 elections, KCR, who campaigned for Telangana, resigned as an MLA in 2001 and founded the Telangana Rashtra Samiti Party. In 2001, he contested as an MLA for the fifth time in the Siddipet by-election.

In 2004, he contested as MLA from Siddipet and MP from Karimnagar and won. He resigned from the post of MLA and took oath as an MP to make his voice heard on behalf of Telangana in the Lok Sabha. He resigned from the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat in 2006 and 2008 demanding Telangana and contested the by-elections and won.

Later, in 2009, he contested as MP from Mahboob Nagar and won. After coming to Telangana in 2014, he contested as MLA from Gajwel and MP from Medak Lok Sabha seat and won.

But as the TRS party got full majority, he resigned as MP and took oath as Chief Minister. In 2018, he once again contested as an MLA from Gajwel and won.

Recently, he contested as an MLA from Kamareddy and Gajwel in the 2023 assembly elections. For the first time after 40 years of his political career, he was defeated as an MLA in Kamareddy. But it was the third consecutive win from Gajwel.

KCR won nine times as MLA. So far no one has won as MLA all times in Telangana state. KCR won 9 times as MLA and 5 times as MP. In his 40-year political career, KCR served as a state minister, deputy speaker, union minister and twice as chief minister.
