KTR: We will revive Nizam Sugar Factory

Industries Minister KTR reiterated that the state government is committed to the restoration of the Nizam Sugar Factory, which has a rich history in Telangana. Chief Minister KCR has already said the same in the assembly. He recalled that a team led by the then Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy toured Maharashtra to study the functioning of sugar mills. He said that the government is thinking of running a factory on the lines of cooperative sugar factories as farmers are doing in Maharashtra. He said that his government has already restored the Sirpur paper mill.

Efforts are being made to revive the rayons factory in the united Warangal district, he said. Discussions are going on with ITC regarding this. KTR made it clear that although there is a possibility of the state government selling these factories as the central government is doing, BRS has no such idea. He said that they are considering them as employment generating units, sources of income and assets for the government and not as real estate assets.

Telangana Chief Minister  KCR had stated on record in the Assembly that the State government was committed to the revival of Nizam Sugar Factory. KCR wanted the factory to be operated on lines of Cooperative Sugar factories as was being done by the  farmers in Maharashtra.
