Prime Minister Narendra Modi has for the first time reacted to the violence that has been going on in Manipur for some time. He said that his heart was filled with pain when he got the information about this incident.
He commented that this inhuman incident is a shame for all Indians. Modi advised the Chief Ministers of all states to take strong measures regarding law and order especially regarding the protection of women. Expressing deep regret over the Manipur incident, Modi said that harassment of women will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He made it clear that the perpetrators of this atrocity will not be spared and will be punished strictly according to the law.
Prime Minister Modi said, “What has happened to the daughters of Manipur can never be forgiven, guilty will not be spared”. Modi also urged all state chiefs to ensure safety of women. Modi said : This a shameful incident for any society, who did this and who is responsible is another issue but this has put our nation to shame.
