IIT student Karthik, who went missing in Hyderabad, committed suicide. Karthik’s dead body was found by the police at Visakhapatnam’s RK Beach. Karthik hailed from Miryalaguda, Nalgonda district. He was studying second year engineering in IIT Hyderabad.
Karthik, a second year B.Tech student at IIT Hyderabad campus, left the campus on July 17. As he did not pick up the phone for two days, the father got suspicious and called the IIT hostel warden Gopinath. On checking by the staff, he was found to be absent from the hostel. Concerned parents went to the campus on July 19 to inquire after Karthik’s phone was switched off. The parents complained to the police as Karthik was not present in the campus.
The police who started the investigation found that he boarded the Janmabhoomi Express on the morning of 20th and reached Visakha in the evening. Karthik was last seen at Serilingam Pally railway station. Based on the phone signal, the police found that Karthik had gone to Visakhapatnam and took Karthik’s parents there. Those who had been searching for their missing son for a week shed tears as his body was finally found.
Visakhapatnam police cooperated with Sangareddy police in the case of Karthik Lokesh. Karthik’s disappearance was thought to be a happy ending, but the onlookers were left in deep grief as he was unexpectedly found dead.
