More provisions will be added to the Arogyasri scheme from Oct 15, says Jagan

On Friday, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the government is spending Rs 3,200 crore on Arogyasri, Arogyasri Aasara and the 108 and 104 services in the state. He also said that more provisions will be added to the Arogyasri scheme from the 15th of October. Jagan has asked the authorities to provide Covid kits in the village clinics and initiate a medical recruitment board to monitor smooth functioning of government hospitals without sufficient employees, at a review of the medical and health department.

When compared to the tenure of the ex-government TDP, YSRCP government expenditure on Arogyasri increased thrice in the last 3 years. Jagan said that nearly Rs 2,500 crore is spent on YSR Arogyasri with a raised set of provisions while Rs 300 crore is used for Aarogya Aasara and Rs 400 crore for the 108 and 104 services.

It is also said that the addition of facilities from 2,446 to 3,254 for Arogyasri would begin from October 15. But some formalities are yet to be fulfilled. 432 more of the 104 ambulance services would be added by December, and there will be a total of 1,108 ambulance services by the end of this year. 12 types of diagnostic kits and 67 types of medicines will be available in village clinics.

As said by the officials, Andhra Pradesh has bagged six of the ten Ayushman awards given by the Centre. The chief minister stressed to increase the patient diet charges to Rs 100 per day according to Arogyasri patients and a quality menu is mandatory. The construction of new medical colleges and works on Urban Health Clinics should be accomplished by November, Jagan concluded.
