4 Indians have been featured in the Forbes list of Most Powerful Women. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is ranked 32nd. Forbes released its annual list of Most Powerful Women and 4 Indians were included in the 2023 edition of the list.

HCL Corporation CEO Roshni Nadar Malhotra was ranked 60th, Steel Authority of India Chairperson Soma Mondal was ranked 70th, and Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar Shah was ranked 76th. European Commission chief Ursula Van Der Leyen has topped the Forbes list of powerful women. European Central Bank boss Christine Lagarde and US Vice President Kamal Harris are in 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. 

Meanwhile, Nirmala Sitharaman assumed full responsibility as Union Finance Minister in the month of May 2019. She handles the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Before entering politics, she held key roles in the Agricultural Engineers Association and the BBC World Service in the UK. Before this, Sitharaman served as the 28th defence minister of India, being the second woman in the country to hold both these ministries.

Nirmala Sitharaman also served as a member of the National Commission for Women. Roshni Nadar, daughter of the founder of HCL company, Shiv Nadar, is working as the chairperson of the company from July 2020.
