Sucharita, who was groomed by the former Andhra Pradesh CM and Jagan Mohan Reddy’ father late Dr Y S Rajashekara Reddy was awarded the position not only because she belongs to the Mala-SC caste but also because she is a staunch YSR loyalist who stuck with family since 2009. She was inducted into the Congress by the late YSR after he spotted her during his historic ‘padayatra’ in the year 2003. Later his son and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy appointed Mekathoti Sucharita, a Dalit woman, as the state home minister. She served as Home Minister but she did not get a chance to become a minister for the second time.
Recently the Ex Minister Mekathoti Sucharita participated in a program held in Kakumanu of Guntur district. She said that they are with YSR Congress but if her husband Daya Sagar Rao decides to change the party, she will oblige. She added that as a wife, she will follow her husband’s footsteps’.
She further said, “It’s not like I will be in one party and he will be in another. We are one and will act as one.”
The reports are coming that she has also resigned from the post of MLA.
It seems after Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, and Vasantha Krishna Prasad, now Mekathoti Sucharita is getting ready to leave Jagan Reddy’ YSRCP. Recently Jagan summoned Kotamreddy to his camp office and sought an explanation from him for his anti-government comments.
