Pawan betting on Huma QureshiPawan Kumar who directed U Turn for Samantha Akkineni in Tamil and Telugu, is now betting on Kaala beauty Huma Qureshi. According to the latest update,  Pawan Kumar has been signed up one of the directories for upcoming Netflix series Leila. Acclaimed filmmaker Deepa Mehta, and Shankar are also on the board to helmed few episodes for this upcoming series.  The makers have brought Huma Qureshi on the board to play the lead roles. This is the first time, Huma Queshi is going to work for a Netflix show.

 Huma Qureshi recently took to Instagram and Twitter to share a selfie moment from the sets of the Netflix series and wrote on Twitter, “Over-the-moon, working on my first series,with Netflix’s ‘Leila’ directed by Deepa Mehta, Shankar Raman and Pawan Kumar!As you can see super excited to be directed by the legend @IamDeepaMehta … and mommie dropped in on set to give us her duas an pyaar @NetflixIndia #Leila.” Deepa Mehta and Huma Qureshi are joined by the actress’ mother in the frame.

In Leila, Huma Qureshi will be joined by Siddharth Suryanarayan. Adapted from an eponymous novel by a writer and executive producer Urmi Juvekar, series is set in near future and tells the story of a mother’s search for her daughter, from whom she was separated 16 years ago.

Interestingly, Pawan Kumar is the third filmmaker from South India to be signed for Netflix series. It is known news that recently Netiflix announced that directors Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru will helm Baahubali : Before the Beginning series.

Huma Qureshi made her film debut with a supporting role in the two-part crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur (2012. Her popular movies are Shorts, Dedh Ishqiya, Badlapur, Highway, X: Past Is Present. Huma Qureshi was last seen in Rajinikanth starrer gangster drama Kaala.

Pawan Kumar is well known for writing the films Manasaare and Pancharangi.  He also directed the Kannada version of U Turn starring Shraddha Srinath, which was later made in Tamil and Telugu. Pawan Kumar also holds an production house named Pawan Kumar Films.
