After the diagnosis of pregnancy, doctors suggest that every woman should undergo regular checkup. It is said that along with monthly checkup, three tests must be done during pregnancy. These tests help in regular monitoring of fetal growth in the mother’s womb and regular monitoring of the health of the mother along with the unborn child. Doctors explained that the results of these tests can be used to suggest the diet and other precautions to be taken by the mother. It is explained that pregnant women should eat a balanced diet and these tests are necessary to detect the possibility of any nutritional deficiencies from time to time.
Doctors said to undergo regular blood tests, ultrasound tests and diabetes test twice. He said that hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV, thyroid and other problems can be identified through blood tests. It is explained that important information about the health of mothers and babies is known only through ultrasound examinations.
With the ultrasound examination conducted in the first trimester, the doctors know about the growth of the fetus, the position of the placenta, the assessment of the amniotic fluid levels, etc. A Level 2 ultrasound examination in the second trimester may focus on problems with fetal growth. The doctors said that the development of the fetal organs and body structure can be estimated through the ultrasound examination conducted in the third and last trimester (level 3).
