If marriage is the happiest moment in a woman’s life, then pregnancy is the happiest moment for her and her family. A woman experiencing motherhood for the first time experiences many emotions such as excitement, joy, anticipation and anxiety. On the other hand, after pregnancy, a woman’s body undergoes many changes, in which various health problems arise naturally. Apart from these there are also skin problems. As the skin stretches, itchiness, streaks on the skin, etc can cause trouble. In such cases they try to use homemade powders, creams, oils, other cosmetics and home remedies for relief. But, sometimes it is not good to use them. Because the chemicals contained in these can be harmful to the baby’s health.

Essential oils: Essential oils are made from aromatic herbs. They are commonly used in aromatherapy and skin care products. Although they have many benefits, they can cause problems for pregnant women or unborn babies. Especially tea tree oil and clary sage oil can cause hormonal imbalance. So should not be used during pregnancy.

Some sunscreen lotions: Sunscreens with chemicals like oxybenzone and octinoxate act by absorbing UV rays. Although they are effective in protecting the skin from the sun’s harmful rays, some studies have shown that they can harm children’s health.

Acne medications: Medications used to treat acne, such as Accutane, can harm an unborn baby. It is best not to use these if you are planning to become pregnant.

Retinoids: Retinoids like tretinoin and isotretinoin help treat skin problems like acne, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. But these affect the health of the baby in the womb. Hence it is advisable to stop using products made from these during pregnancy.
