The actors and politicians Sarathkumar and Radikaa were convicted in a cheque bounce case yesterday on 7th April. The court imposed a penalty of Rs 5 cr.
The Special Court convicted Sarathkumar, Radikaa and producer Listin Stephen in a cheque bounce case. Radiance Media Private Ltd had filed a plea against the couple Sarathkumar and Radhikaa in the year 2018.
A firm Magic Frames in which Sarathkumar a former law maker, Radhikaa and Listin Stephen had borrowed Rs 1.5 cr from Radiance Media in the year 2014. The actor Sarathkumar had also borrowed Rs 50 lakh from the Magic Frames. The cheques issued by Sarathkumar as repayment of the loan bounced and hence Radiance Media Private Ltd filed the case. Sarathkumar had issued five cheques for Rs 10 lakh each, all which bounced.
The trio Sarathkumar, Radhikaa and Listin Stephen had promised to return the money in a year. Since Radhikaa and Sarathkumar failed to return the borrowed amount, Radiance Media Private Ltd had filed a petition against them. The case at the Saidapet fast track court was recently transferred to the Special Court for MP and MLAs. Judge N Alicia heard the case yesterday and sentenced actors and politicians Sarathkumar and Radikaa to one year of jail.
