Congress leader and former UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an article she wrote. The article titled ‘An enforced silence cannot solve India’s problems’, Sonia  Gandhi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statements “either ignore most pressing, vital issues of day, or are platitudes and the verbal gymnastics to gloss over or distract from these issues.”

She accused the central government under Modi’s leadership of demolishing the pillars of democracy. She alleged that the statements made by Prime Minister Modi are tricks to ignore the most important issues of the country and divert the people’s attention. She accused the Prime Minister Modi-led government at the Center of systematically destroying the three pillars of the country’s democracy.

Sonia Gandhi mentioned the recent disruptions in Parliament. She  said it was the government’s strategy to disrupt the meetings. She alleged that this was done to prevent the opposition from raising issues like unemployment, inflation and Adani scam. Sonia said that the central government had to resort to unexpected measures to deal with a determined opposition. The disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as a Lok Sabha MP and deletion of parts of his speech from the parliamentary records were also mentioned. She said that all this was done to divert the attention of the opposition.
