Telangana Assembly Elections 2023: KCR’ key decision regarding BRS Candidates

Telangana assembly elections will be held later this year. All the political parties in the state are campaigning vigorously in this order. It is in this context that Bharata Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief and Chief Minister KCR is planning strategies to win the seat of power for the third time in a row. As part of this, they are actively campaigning. All party leaders are also advised to continue campaigning in their respective constituencies.

Sources in the party said that there will be no changes in the list of BRS candidates for the 115 Assembly seats announced by Chief Minister KCR and the leadership has instructed the candidates to intensify the campaign. While KCR’s announcement of 115 candidates on August 21 took the political circles by surprise, there were speculations that the party would change at least 20-25 candidates based on survey reports after the election notification came out in October. However, KCR’s decision to retain all but seven is believed to be a move to prevent defections to other parties.

In addition to this, it is reported that the leadership has asked the candidates to slow down their campaigning as there is a possibility of holding joint elections for some time and the elections are delayed. As the debate on the joint elections subsides, the party is preparing strategies for candidates to resume campaigning. However, reliable sources said that the Chief Minister has decided to put an end to all the ongoing speculations regarding the candidates. He said that the candidates for the remaining four assembly constituencies will be announced in one or two weeks. Otherwise, it is reported that the Chief Minister has decided to adhere to this list as it may be seen as evidence of opposition to the BRS government.
