Three-day snow sports festival in Kashmir to be organized by Army from Feb 18

The Army has decided to conduct a 3-day snow sports carnival in Bhaderwah, Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. The festival is scheduled to commence from the 18th of this month. It is going to organise especially to boost the pandemic-hit tourism industry in the state. Here, the spot Bhaderwah is also known as Mini Kashmir, in the representation of it’s beautiful settings.

The three-day festival features a number of snow activities like skiing, snow sledding and snowboarding. Snowman making competitions will also be conducted at Jaie Valley, Padri, Sartingal and Thanthera. Moreover, there will be a live performance by a band from Bhaderwah, for the allurement of tourists. Photography competitions and exhibitions will also be conducted along with these activities.

“The primary objective to conduct snow festival at this time is to give the much-needed boost to tourism in Bhaderwah valley which is the cornerstone of the economy of the locals who have suffered a lot due to the Covid pandemic”, said Rakesh Kumar, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Bhaderwah.

He also conveyed that the carnival will provide a perfect spot for the juveniles of the region to present their skills. The residents in the valley are also in a delightful mood and coming forward with their interest towards the efforts of the army to bring back the tourism environment around the city.
