YSR Telangana Party president YS Sharmila, daughter of late Andhra Pradesh CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy, has joined the Congress party. Congress National President Mallikarjuna Kharge and former Chief Rahul Gandhi invited her into the party by covering her with a scarf. On this occasion, YS Sharmila said that YSR has worked hard for Congress party all her life.She reminded that her father served the party till the last moment. She said that she is very happy to join the Congress party today as his daughter. She commented that Congress Party is the biggest secular party in the country today. Sharmila expressed his grief over the recent riots and loss of life in Manipur.
YS Sharmila interacted with media and said, “Congress party is still the largest secular party of our country and it has always upheld true culture of India and built foundations of our nation.”
She added: Rahul Gandhi has instilled self-confidence in himself and the people of the country with the Bharat Jodo Yatra. He explained that that is why she joined the Congress and merged her party YSR TP. Sharmila explained that it was her father YSR’s dream to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister and she will work hard to fulfill that dream.
