Morgan said, “After careful contemplation and reflection, I am here to announce my retirement from international cricket with instantaneous effect. To call time on what has been without doubt the most delightful and gratifying chapter of my walk of life hasn’t been an easy commitment, but I believe now is the perfect time to do so, both for me, personally, and for both England White-ball sides I have led to this point.”

He acquired the ICC Men;s Cricket World Cup 2019 as the captain at Lord’s, during his 13-year international career with England. He captained the England cricket team in limited overs cricket from 2015, until now. He earlier played for the Ireland cricket team in ODIs, and he was the first player to score an ODI hundred for two countries. As of June this year, he is the all-time leading run scorer and most-capped player for England in ODI as well as T20I matches.
