It is known that Pakistan and Sri Lanka are jointly hosting the Asia Cup this time. Due to strained relations between India and Pakistan, this Asia Cup is being held in a hybrid format. According to this only 4 matches will be played in Pakistan while 9 important matches including semi-final and final match will be played in Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, two players of the host Lankan team got an infection and the tournament suffered a setback.

According to Sri Lankan reporter Danushka Aravinda, opening batsman Avishka Fernando, wicket keeper and batsman Kushal Pereira have both been diagnosed as corona positive. Although the Sri Lankan Cricket Board has not yet given an official information about the two contracting the virus, it would be a huge blow to the team if both Pereira and Fernando are out of the Asia Cup due to the virus.

This year’s Asia Cup will start from August 30. Pakistan and Nepal will play the first match in Multan.
