India’s top-notch Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been felicitated with the prestigious title of ‘ICC Player of the Month’ for February. He thrashed renowned players like Kane Williamson of New Zealand and Pathum Nissanka of Sri Lanka. Yashasvi’s outstanding performance led him to achieve two consecutive double centuries in the Test series against England. Also, Yashasvi turned as the highest run-scorer in the entire Ind vs Eng Test series.
Now, he is regarded as the 7th Indian men’s cricketer to achieve the ICC Player of the Month title. The announcement was made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on X. They wrote, “Presenting the ICC Player of the Month for February. Congratulations, Yashasvi Jaiswal. Hear from the Team India batter on receiving the award.”
During the Ind vs Eng five-match Test series, Yashasvi Jaiswal picked up a couple of double centuries, where India attained 4-1. In the initial innings of the Visakhapatnam Test, Yashasvi clinched 209 runs, followed by 214 runs in the second innings of the Rajkot Test. In addition, he contributed a half-century in the initial innings of the Ranchi Test.
By equalling the Test record for most sixes in average innings with 12 sixes, Yashasvi obtained a remarkable feat himself during the Test match against England in Rajkot. At the age of 22 years, he secured two consecutive double centuries and was touted as the 3rd youngest batsman in the world, after Don Bradman and Vinod Kambli. Yashasvi made his Test debut in 2023 against the West Indies. With his excellency, Yashasvi scored 1,028 runs in 9 matches, from 16 innings with a stunning average of 68.53.
