CSK Devon Conway is obstructed to participate in IPL Here why

New Zealand Opener Devon Conway was rejected for his participation in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) as he endures an injury to his left thumb, which will take nearly two months to recover. He belongs to the raising team Chennai Super Kings. He faced the injury during the T20I series against Australia in February.

As a result, Devon has to undergo a surgery on his left thumb, later this week. Post the surgery, he needs more rest from his duties so that he hasn’t had a chance to take part in the IPL this year. Moreover, the IPL tournament is slated to begin on March 22, with defending champions CSK taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

It is claimed by New Zealand cricket that the decision was taken to operate on Conway with a likely recovery period of at least 8 weeks, following several scans and specialist advice. Being a left-handed batter, Devon scored 924 runs in 23 matches in the IPL at an average of 46.12 with a strike rate of 141.28.

As the IPL schedule is set close to the upcoming general elections, the BCCI had revealed the tournament’s schedule only for initial 21 matches. The remaining schedule for the rest of the matches will be prepared after the announcement of the election agenda. Meanwhile, a training camp is being conducted for CSK  in Chennai for the upcoming league.

The Chennai Super Kings bought Devon Conway for a best price of Rs 1 crore in the 2022 auction.
